La Chiesa parrocchiale di San Lorenzo venne edificata sul finire del 1200 come "Cappella della Pieve" (di San Giovanni), all'interno della cinta muraria, perché fosse più comodo per i fedeli raggiungere il luogo di culto. La realizzazione poggiava su un edificio ancora più antico e nei secoli la chiesa ha visto successive trasformazioni che ne fanno oggi un complesso ricco di opere d'arte. Dietro l'altare maggiore del XVIII secolo sono conservate le reliquie di San Fiorenzo, patrono di Campiglia, Vescovo di Populonia morto nel 554 (si festeggia dal 1623, il 15 maggio). Tra le opere da segnalare, nella Cappella della Madonna delle Grazie, edificata nel 1783, è collocata sull'altare una splendida Vergine con bambino. Il dipinto su tavola, è stato ritrovato in pessime condizioni e restaurato con grande perizia negli anni settanta. L'umidità e l'incuria lo avevano reso irriconoscibile. Parte dei colori sono andati perduti, invece
'miracolosamente' intatti sono rimasti i volti della Madonna e del Bambino. L'opera è stata attribuita all'anonimo Maestro di San Torpé, pittore pisano, legato alla Scuola Senese, attivo nella prima metà del trecento.

The parish church of San Lorenzo was built at the end of the 1200s as the 'Chapel of the Pieve' (of San Giovanni), within the city walls, to make it more convenient for the faithful to reach the place of worship. The construction was based on an even older building, and over the centuries, the church underwent successive transformations, making it today a complex structure rich in works of art. Behind the eighteenth-century main altar, the relics of San Fiorenzo are preserved, the patron saint of Campiglia, Bishop of Populonia who died in 554 (celebrated since 1623 on 15 May). Among the notable works is the Chapel of Madonna delle Grazie, built in 1783, where a splendid Virgin with Child rests on the altar. The painting on wood was found in poor condition and expertly restored in the seventies. Moisture and neglect had made it unrecognisable. Some of the colours faded, but miraculously, the faces of the Madonna and the Child remained intact. The work has been attributed to the anonymous Master of San Torpé, a Pisan painter associated with the Sienese School, active in the first half of the fourteenth century.

"Die Pfarrkirche San Lorenzo wurde Ende des 13. Jahrhunderts als „Kapelle der Pieve“ (von San Giovanni) innerhalb der Stadtmauern errichtet, um es den Gläubigen bequemer zu machen, den Ort der Anbetung zu erreichen. Die Konstruktion basierte auf einem noch älteren Gebäude, und im Laufe der Jahrhunderte hat die Kirche aufeinander folgende Veränderungen erlebt, die sie heute zu einem Komplex mit reichen Kunstwerken machen. Hinter dem Hauptaltar aus dem 18. Jahrhundert werden die Reliquien von San Fiorenzo aufbewahrt, dem Schutzpatron von Campiglia, dem Bischof von Populonia, der 554 verstarb (seit 1623 am 15. Mai gefeiert). Unter den bemerkenswerten Werken ist die Kapelle Madonna delle Grazie, die 1783 erbaut wurde und auf deren Altar eine wunderschöne Jungfrau mit Kind platziert ist. Das Gemälde auf Holz wurde in schlechtem Zustand gefunden und in den siebziger Jahren fachmännisch restauriert. Feuchtigkeit und Vernachlässigung hatten es unkenntlich gemacht. Einige Farben gingen verloren, aber die Gesichter der Madonna und des Kindes blieben auf mirakulöse Weise intakt. Das Werk wurde dem anonymen Meister von San Torpé zugesagt.
