Uno degli edifici più significativi del Comune di Campiglia Marittima è il Palazzo Pretorio. D’origine duecentesca, quest'antica dimora del Capitano di Giustizia, è stata diverse volte modificata durante i secoli. Uno dei segni più interessanti che la storia ha lasciato su questa struttura, sono gli stemmi che i potestà, ( i rettori che Firenze inviò tra i secoli XV e XVII presso questo capitanato) fecero inserire sulla facciata principale, probabilmente per cancellare i preesistenti, appartenenti al precedente governo pisano durato fino al 1406.
Il Palazzo Pretorio sovrasta in altezza gli edifici grazie ad una robusta torre dell'orologio completata da una bella campana.
Attualmente ospita l'Archivio Storico, la Biblioteca dei Ragazzi "Il palazzo dei Racconti", il Museo Carlo Guarnieri, l'Ufficio informazion i turistiche e alcune sale espositive per mostrte temporanee.
Il palazzo da alcuni anni è sede della Sala dei Matrimoni e delle Unioni civili, intitolala a "Valentino Polidori" parte integrante del Museo Guarnieri del quale ospita alcune grandi tele del pittore-xilogfrafo nato e vissuto per un lungo periodo a Campiglia.

The Pretorio Palace stands as one of the most notable structures within the Municipality of Campiglia Marittima."Dating back to the 13th century, this ancient residence of the Captain of Justice underwent several modifications over the centuries. One of the most interesting signs that history left on this structure are the crests that the podestà (the rulers sent by Florence between the 15th and 17th centuries to govern this captaincy) had placed on the main façade, probably to replace the pre-existing ones belonging to the previous Pisan rule that lasted until 1406. The Pretorio Palace towers above the surrounding buildings with a robust clock tower completed by a beautiful bell. Currently, it houses the Historical Archive, the Children's Library "Il Palazzo dei Racconti," the Carlo Guarnieri Museum, the Tourist Information Office, and some exhibition rooms for temporary displays. For some years now, the Palace has been the venue for the Wedding and Civil Union Hall "Valentino Polidori", an integral part of the Guarnieri Museum, which houses some large canvases by the painter-xylographer who was born and lived for a long period in Campiglia.

Eines der bedeutendsten Gebäude der Gemeinde Campiglia Marittima ist der Pretorio-Palast. Ursprünglich aus dem 13. Jahrhundert stammend, wurde diese alte Residenz des Capitano di Giustizia im Laufe der Jahrhunderte mehrmals verändert. Ein besonders interessantes Zeichen, das die Geschichte an diesem Gebäude hinterlassen hat, sind die Wappen, die die Podestà (die Regenten, die Florenz zwischen dem 15. und 17. Jahrhundert in dieses Kapitanat entsandte) wahrscheinlich auf der Hauptfassade anbringen ließen, um die vorherigen, die zum früheren pisanischen Herrschaft bis 1406 gehörten, zu überdecken.
Der Pretorio-Palast überragt die umliegenden Gebäude mit einem robusten Uhrenturm, der von einer schönen Glocke vervollständigt wird.
Aktuell beherbergt er das Historische Archiv, die Kinderbibliothek "Il Palazzo dei Racconti", das Carlo Guarnieri Museum, das Touristeninformationsbüro und einige Ausstellungsräume für temporäre Ausstellungen.
Der Palast ist seit einigen Jahren auch der Sitz des Trauungs- und Zivilstandsamt, ein integraler Bestandteil des Guarnieri-Museums, das einige große Gemälde des Malers beherbergt, der in Campiglia geboren ist und lange Zeit hier gelebt hat.
